Taking God's Name in Vain is a Sin! By David J. Stewart

"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."5:11

The voice you just heard is that of Harry Caray (1914-1998), the famous radio and TV broadcaster for the Chicago Cub steam for many years.Mr. Caray was renowned for his exuberant saying, "holy cow."Such misuse of the word "holy" was also a featured element in the 1970's Batman series... "Holy ______ Batman!"Never in the history of America have so many people misused spiritual terms, and used God's name in vain as today.Any mention of the word "holy" should only be reserved for that which is Biblically holy.

Not only do American's curse in God's name, but they love to hear it in their movies as well. In the Hollywood First Blood, with Sylvester Stallone, actor Brian Denny (who plays the Police Chief) curses in God's holy name repeatedly, over and over. This is evil. Deuteronomy 5:11 warns... "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." Yet, everywhere we turn in America, we hear people using God's precious name in vain.Do these people not realize that God's last name is not DAMN!

It is a horrible sin to use God's name in vain, and that doesn't just apply to cursing either. It is common for TV's late night shows to and make sport of spiritual matters. Conan O'Brien's show the Lord Jesus Christ. They are using God's name in vain. This is a woeful evil in America. We have sinned against God and flaunted our sins in His face, even naming one of our most vile and wicked cities--SIN CITY!People are so used to hearing God and the Bible blasphemed that they have become desensitized to it. In Star Wars,The Empire Strikes Back, Harrison Ford (i.e., Han Solo) make the statement... "Then I'll set you in Hell."It is disturbing to hear such Hollywood actors admit that they're going to Hell.Of course, Harrison Ford has cursed in God's name repeatedly in most of his movies. Taking God's name in vain is the insignia Hollywood movies.

It is more than coincidental that even your Atheists curse in God's name, especially when they get angry. If you don't believe the Bible for the Bible's sake, then believe it for the self-incriminating nature of man.At the climax of pain, anger, joy, or pleasure... God's name is often taken in vain by the sinful world. A common expression heard today is... "Oh my God!"This is sinful when used is passive speech. The name of God is holy and we should be careful to show great respect. We read in Isaiah 57:15... "For thus saith the high and lofty One that in habiteth eternity, name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." Yet, MILLIONS of Americans curse in God's name every day!Deuteronomy 5:11 declares them GUILTY in God's eyes. When God says you're guilty, it's not a good thing!King David knew well of God's hot-temper... Psalm 6:1, "O LORD, rebuke me not in anger, neither chasten me in displeasure."Also in Psalm 38:1, "O LORD, rebuke me not in wrath: neither chasten me in hot displeasure."2nd Corinthians 5:11 states, "Knowing therefore the of the Lord, we persuade men..."Psalm 7:11, "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day."Do not be deceived, your day of reckoning is soon coming if you think it's a light thing to take God's name in vain!It is wicked sin!

Have you noticed how the Devil is twisting things around nowadays?I hear young people referring to good things as being "wicked." Good tasting foods are often called "sinfully delicious."Folks, sin is not a joking matter to God. Increasingly, TV commercials tease about homosexuality, adultery, and many other evils condemned in the Scriptures. Prime Time programming is sexually perverted. Don't think for a moment that this is all coincidental. Satan is working relentlessly to kill, steal, and destroy(John 10:10). 1st Peter 5:8 warns, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, whom he may devour."Jesus warned Peter that the Devil desired to sift (i.e., beat) him like stalks of wheat (Luke 22:31).Oh! Listen friend, it is a horrible sin, and blasphemy against God, to take God's name in vain. Think about the things people utter out of their sinful mouths... "Jesus fu%#*ng Christ!"... "Holy sh@$!"... and so forth. It is unthinkable! No one should ever sacrilegiously mention Biblical terms, or the name of God.The fastest way to identify yourself with the Devil's crowd is to take God's name in vain, which is exactly why so many God-haters do it.God is a Holy God... "Be ye holy; for I am holy" (1st Peter 1:16).

"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."-Exodus 20:7

Jesus is precious!

You sit behind those bars of steel, where time has gone.

You chose to fight the law one day,but the law has finally won.

Your memory walks through happy times, your family left behind.

And your heart it cries for Love again,a peaceful state of mind.

Those thoughts were fresh, when you arrived, they fade with passing days.

And that freedom dream you held onto, now a smoky haze.

Now a broken heart and shattered dreams, you day and night.

If the hands of time could turn around, would change your wrongs to right.

But it's too late now, to repent your crimes, mercy will be shown.

The law is firm and won't forgive, your crimes it can't condone.

But there's one who will forgive you,all that you have done.

He's the bright and morning star above,'s God's own precious Son.

He died for you many years ago,as he hung upon a tree.

And on that day, he swept away, your sins and set you free.

We all are prisoners of the soul, until Jesus breaks our chains.

And once we surrender our lives to him, will ease those hurting pains.

He brings hope to the hopeless everyday, his unconditional Love.

If you try him on, you soon will see, fits just like a glove.

But you must believe in Jesus Christ, make him Lord of all.

Before those chains that have you bound, loosen up and fall.

In his very own words, Jesus said,at least in words of sort.

That everyone has sinned in life, and all have fallen short.

So if you want your hope restored, just pray this simple prayer.

Invite the presence of the Lord, and he will soon be there.

Say, Jesus I'm a sinner,I'm lonely and I'm lost.

I understand you love me Lord, and paid the highest cost.

Even though I am not worthy Lord, forgive me of my sin.

I believe you are my Savior, come dwell and live within.

You died upon the cross for me,so I could be brand new.

And with this precious gift you gave, now die unto you.

I will serve you now and forever,be my master and my friend.

Please take me underneath your wing, your Spirit now descend.

My life from this day forward will shine for all to see.

And spread the news of Jesus Christ, one who set me free.-Amen.

Now that hopeless soul that daily cried, finally found it's hope.

And your brand new friend, you just have found, give you strength to cope.

And if nothing else, find peace in this, matter the sentence you bear.

Jesus is coming again real soon, and his Kingdom you will share.

And those years of time your looking at,seem like just a thing.

When your record is stamped for all to see,"Paroled by Heaven's King".

So live each day for Jesus Christ, and look up to the stars.

Cause a mansion is yours, just through Heaven's doors,a cell with prison bars.

And forgive yourself, cause Jesus has, need to further fear.

Put your trust in him, that precious gem, return is very near.

Below message are given with confirmation from the word of God THE BIBLE!

Mark 4:9(New King James Version)

9He said to them,[a]“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Luke 8:21(New King James Version)

21He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”

Jeremiah 5:21(New King James Version)

21‘ Hear this now, O foolish people, Without understanding, Who have eyes and see not, And who have ears and hear not:

Matthew 13:1-9(New King James Version)

The Parable of the Sower

the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.3He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to he sowed, some seed by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Matthew 13:10-17(New King James Version)

10the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.‘14And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:

‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,

And seeing you will see and not perceive;

15For the hearts of this people have grown dull.

Their earsare hard of hearing,

And their eyes they have closed,

Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,

Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,

So that I should[a]heal them.’ [b]

16blessed are eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men to see what you see, and did not see it,and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
